RESONANCE

Resonance welcomes original scholarship in the Humanities and Social Sciences, written in English or Bengali. Authors are requested to read these guidelines in full before submission. Manuscripts that do not comply with the formatting, citation, or file-structure requirements below will not be sent for review.

1. Scope and Eligibility

• Submissions must present original, unpublished work that is not under consideration, in press, or published elsewhere, in whole or substantial part.
• The journal accepts full-length research articles, along with review articles, critical essays, and short notes, within the fields of Literature, Education, Geography, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, and allied interdisciplinary areas of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
• Manuscripts may be submitted in English or Bengali. Articles in Bengali must include an English title and an English abstract (150–200 words) to enable indexing and international discoverability.

2. Research and Publication Ethics

• All submissions are screened for plagiarism and AI-generated content prior to peer review. Similarity and authenticity checks follow UGC guidelines on academic integrity. Manuscripts exceeding acceptable similarity thresholds, or found to contain undisclosed AI-generated text, will be rejected without further review.
• Authors must ensure that all data, quotations, and sources are accurately represented and properly attributed. Fabrication, falsification, and duplicate publication constitute grounds for rejection or retraction.
• Any actual or potential conflict of interest (financial, institutional, or personal) relevant to the submitted work must be disclosed in the title page.
• Where research involves human participants, archival material requiring permissions, or sensitive cultural material, authors are responsible for confirming that appropriate ethical clearance or consent has been obtained, and must state this in the manuscript.
• The journal follows a strict double-blind peer review process. The Editorial Board’s decision, made on the basis of reviewer recommendations, is final.

3. Manuscript Files — Two Separate Files Required

Every submission must consist of two separate files, uploaded exactly as instructed in the submission form. Submissions that merge both files into one, or omit either file, will not be sent for review.

File 1: Title Page (not anonymous)

Must include:

• Full title of the paper
• Full name(s) of all author(s)
• Institutional affiliation(s) of each author
• ORCID iD (if available)
• Corresponding author's email address
• A brief biographical note for each author (50–70 words)
• A statement of any conflict of interest, or "The authors declare no conflict of interest."

File 2: Anonymous Manuscript (for review)

Must include:

• Paper title (repeated, with no author names)
• Abstract (150–200 words), stating the problem, method, and key findings
• 4–6 keywords
• Main text
• Complete reference list
• No identifying information anywhere in the file.

5. Citation Style and Manuscript Length

• Citation style: Chicago Author-Date system (latest edition), for both in-text citations and the reference list. Every source cited in-text must appear in the reference list, and every entry in the reference list must be cited in-text.
• Total length: 3,000–5,000 words, inclusive of title, abstract, keywords, tables, figures, endnotes, and references.
• Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively, captioned, and referred to in the text; each should be placed close to its first mention or supplied as a separate file if high resolution is required.

6. Copyright and Open Access Policy

Resonance is a full open-access journal. Authors retain copyright of their published work and grant the journal a non-exclusive licence to publish under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) licence, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Articles may be freely read, downloaded, and shared with appropriate attribution, for non-commercial purposes. By submitting a manuscript, the corresponding author confirms that all co-authors have approved the submission and agree to these terms.

7. Peer Review Process

1. Editorial screening — Submissions are first checked for scope, originality, plagiarism/AI content, and adherence to these guidelines.
2. Double-blind review — Manuscripts that pass screening are sent to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers.
3. Decision — Based on reviewer recommendations, the Editorial Board issues one of three outcomes: Accepted, Accepted with revisions, or Rejected.
4. Authors are typically notified of the outcome within the timeframe communicated at submission; revisions, where requested, must be returned by the deadline specified in the decision letter.

8. Submission Process

• Manuscripts must be submitted only through the journal's designated online submission form.
• Upload the Title Page and the Anonymous Manuscript as two separate files, exactly as specified above.
• Incomplete submissions, or submissions that do not follow the two-file structure, will not be sent for review.
• Authors will receive an acknowledgement of receipt by email within 5 working days. Queries regarding submission status may be sent to resonance@gmg.ac.in.

9. After Acceptance

• Accepted articles are copyedited and typeset for publication in the current annual volume/issue.
• Authors will be asked to review and approve final proofs within a specified turnaround time before publication.
• Each published article is assigned a DOI and is made freely available on the journal's Archives page, with bibliographic details (volume, issue, year, and page numbers) displayed on the first page.

10. Quick Checklist Before You Submit

• Title page prepared separately, with author names, affiliations, ORCID, bio notes, and conflict-of-interest statement
• Anonymous manuscript with no identifying information (including file metadata)
• Abstract of 150–200 words (English abstract included even for Bengali submissions)
• 4–6 keywords
• Word count between 3,000 and 5,000 words
• Times New Roman (English) / Noto Serif Bengali (Bengali), 12 pt, 1.5 spacing, 1-inch margins, justified
• Chicago Author-Date citations, fully cross-checked against the reference list
• Tables/figures numbered, captioned, and cited in text
• Manuscript is original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere
• Screened by the author for plagiarism and unattributed AI-generated content before submission
